Behind the Lens
Jackson Gallagher is a multidisciplinary visual artist who moves between acting, filmmaking, photography, and painting. His work explores emotion, stillness, and the quiet poetry of human connection — capturing stories where truth and artistry meet.
Layered and cinematic in tone, his images reveal a world rendered through light, mood, and quiet complexity. His practice spans portraiture, fashion, architecture, and documentary work — drawing from the same instinctive curiosity that informs his filmmaking and creative direction.
As a contributor to The Guardian and various NGOs, Jackson’s documentary projects have taken him around the world, exploring narratives of resilience, humanity, and place. Beyond his commissioned work, he is drawn to photographing people — particularly men — through a lens of vulnerability and depth.
Away from the camera, he’s a father and a lifelong student of his craft — most at home in nature, learning through travel, connection, and observation. He prefers to let his work speak for itself, inviting people to lose themselves in his art — whether through the characters he plays or the visual stories he tells.
Based between Melbourne and Sydney, Jackson travels extensively and is available worldwide for projects.
